DISCLAIMER NOTICE

Our attention has been drawn to the misleading news headline and false information published by Sahara Reporters and Daily Trust as regards the auto accident on our campus two days ago. As a union, we strongly condemn this unprofessional act and also call on the two media houses to correct the errors in order to avert a war against the student body.

The headline which read "Couple, two others killed as Nigerian University Students organise car racing contest" was not only misleading but malicious. We express our total disappointment as these dailies are seemed to be some of the highly respected online media outlets which people look up to for credible information.

For the sake of records, there was never a car racing contest by the vehicles involved. Rather, the collision was 'alleged' to have been caused by overspeeding according to eye-witness reports. However, security agents are still conducting investigations to unravel the mystery behind the incident. As such, we totally disclaim any information that report otherwise.

We hereby implore members of the public to disregard the malicious information as reported by both media outlets.
