IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE CAMPUS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Innovative Unilorites,
We are pleased to announce that following the Union’s engagements and the constructive feedback from members of the University community, the earlier directive on the relocation of campus parks has been reviewed and fresh measures have been introduced towards ensuring that transportation within the University is more convenient and affordable.
This development reflects the University's responsiveness to student concerns and reaffirms the effectiveness of collective dialogue and responsible advocacy by the Union on behalf of all Unilorites.
KEY POINTS OF THE REVISED ARRANGEMENT:
• All commercial vehicles will continue to drop passengers at the new park near the University gate.
• Passengers may disembark at the old park, but commercial buses are not permitted to pick passengers from there.
• Only University-operated shuttles are allowed to pick passengers from the old park.
• Tricycles (Keke NAPEPs) are to operate from the open space around the Students’ Union Building/Bukateria area.
• The newly created bus stop opposite the Faculty of Education has been cancelled.
ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS:
• The fare from Tanke Terminus to campus remains ₦200.
• The fare from the new park to campus (via University-operated buses) is now ₦100.
These measures will operate on an interim basis (for about 2–3 weeks) while the University reviews and perfects the system for long-term implementation.
We appreciate the University Management for this reconsideration and assure all Unilorites of our continued engagement to ensure that the welfare, safety, and convenience remain central to every decision.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and maturity throughout this process. The Union remains steadfast in representing your interests with dignity, accuracy, and fairness, while promoting an environment that works for every Innovative Unilorite.
