WORLD AIDS DAY 2025: “OVERCOMING DISRUPTION, TRANSFORMING THE AIDS RESPONSE”

We join the global community today to commemorate the World AIDS Day under the theme “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.” This theme urges all nations, institutions, and communities to confront the disruptions that continue to affect HIV services and to strengthen collective action toward ending the epidemic.
As a community, we stand in solidarity with people living with HIV and honor the lives lost to AIDS-related complications. Today reminds us that HIV is not a death sentence and that no one should face stigma, shame, or discrimination because of their status.
We encourage all Unilorites to prioritize awareness, openness, and accurate information. We urge Unilorites to engage in regular testing and seek counseling when needed. Ending stigma requires understanding, empathy, and a renewed commitment to creating a safe environment for everyone.
We also emphasize the importance of access to treatment and care, which remains a key pillar of the global AIDS response. Together, and in the spirit of this year’s theme, we can transform our collective response and build a healthier, more informed and AIDs-free community.
