The Central Executive Council of the University of Ilorin Students' Union extends its heartfelt best wishes to all students of the Better-By-Far Varsity as they embark on their examinations tomorrow. We firmly believe that with unwavering dedication, hard work, commitment and prayers, every student can excel in their academic pursuits.

We also wish to emphasize the importance of maintaining decorum, punctuality and civility at the Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers during the examination period. We understand the significance of these exams and the potential stress they can bring. Hence, we urge all students to keep their composure and stay focused throughout this critical phase.

The Union recognizes and appreciates the tireless efforts of the school management in providing a conducive academic environment. Consequently, we implore all students to play their part by upholding discipline and orderliness during the examination process.

In addition, we encourage students to make the most of the available resources, especially the 24/7 operation of the school library, to adequately prepare for their exams. We also urge strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing examination conduct and, most importantly, discourage any involvement in examination malpractice.

Lastly, please be aware that some faculties have issued revised timetables for their examinations. We kindly request that you take note of these changes and share this information with your fellow students. Your cooperation in this regard is greatly appreciated.

RELEASE OF 2021/2022 RAIN SEMESTER EXAMINATION TIMETABLE

The University of Ilorin has released the final timetable for the 2021/2022 Rain Semester Examinations.

Students can now access the final timetable for all faculties including the CBT timetable on the Union's website.

We encourage all students to review the timetable carefully and take note of important dates for each schedule. Any questions or concerns regarding the timetable should be directed to the relevant faculty or academic department.

KWARA STATE STUDENTS PALLIATIVE PORTAL NOW OPEN TO SUPPORT NIGERIAN STUDENTS

The Students' Union is delighted to announce the opening of the Kwara State Students Palliative Portal, initiated by the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the NGF. The portal aims to provide support to Nigerian students who are Kwaran indigenes studying in public-owned tertiary institutions across the country.

The state government has allocated a sum of #10,000 to each eligible student in response to the challenges caused by the Fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government. This palliative will be available for students from all levels and categories, including Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Education, Colleges of Nursing & Midwifery, Colleges of Health Technologies, and other colleges throughout Nigeria.

To apply for this support, prospective students are requested to follow these simple steps:

1. Visit the portal at https://scholarship.kw.gov.ng/palliative
2. Click on the "Student Support" link to register your bio-data and obtain login details.
3. Verify your registration through the email address provided during registration.
4. Use your login details and password to fill out the application form online.
5. Scan and upload the required documents online, which include a recent passport size photograph, Citizenship Certificate, Admission Letter, and Institutional Valid I.D Card.

The application window is now open, starting from Monday, 7th August, 2023, and will close on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023 (midnight). Eligible students are urged to complete their registration within this period, as there may not be any further extensions to the deadline.

UNIVERSITY OF ÌLỌRIN DEBATE CLUB EMERGES ZONAL CHAMPION AT MAIDEN AfCFTA AFRICA YOUTH TRADE CHALLENGE 2023

The University of Ilorin Debate Community has once again proven its excellence by emerging as the Zonal Champion at the inaugural Africa Youth Trade Debate Challenge (AYTDC) organized by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) secretariat in collaboration with Speech Forces. The event aimed to engage young people in Africa about the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and raise awareness of the role African youth can play in achieving the goals and benefiting from the AfCFTA.

The participating institutions from across the continent were divided into two zones: English and French. Each zone had eight regions, represented by the top university from each region. The University of Ilorin Debate Community (UILDC) proudly represented Nigeria in this prestigious competition. The preliminary stages were held virtually, and UILDC advanced to the Zonal finals after defeating Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), representing Ghana, in the knockout stage held on Saturday, June 10th, 2023. Subsequently, the team faced Stratmore University of Kenya in the Zonal finals on Saturday, June 24th, and emerged as the victors.

As a result of their remarkable achievement, the University of Ilorin Debate Community has earned an all-expenses-paid trip sponsored by the AfCFTA secretariat to participate in the Grand Finals in Lusaka, Zambia, scheduled from July 19th to 21st. The Grand Finals will determine the continental winners in both the English and French streams.

On behalf of Unilorites, the Students' Union would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to the following team members for their outstanding contributions:
