GOODWILL MESSAGE TO POST UTME APPLICANTS

As today marks the commencement of the POST UTME screening exercise, the Development-Oriented Administration would like to use this medium to welcome all applicants on the Better-By-Far campus and wish them success in their examination. We trust that as you've worked hard to get here, it will surely be crowned with success.

In the course of your stay on campus, please be informed that you're expected to conduct yourselves in a civil manner, dress decently and be of good behavior. We wish you a fruitful stay through out your day(s) on campus.

In a similar vein, we would also like to inform all fresh and returning students that they are urged to put on their identification cards or any means of identification at all times while on campus. This directive is imperative on everyone and necessitated by the need to identify everyone and take precautionary safety measures. Concerned students should take this information as priority.

FREE BUSES INTERVENTION BY KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT

Modern Unilorites,

This is to bring to your notice that as per the Kwara State Government intervention to deploy free buses to specific routes plyed by students and staffs of tertiary institutions, free buses will be made available from today February 13th, 2023 in the below listed routes and at the alloted times

1. 2 long buses will shuttle between Post Office and Tanke(Edinwo Supermarket)

2. Two long buses will shuttle between Tanke(Bus Terminal) and Unilorin Campus.

Please note that these buses will only operate between the hours of 6am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm from Mondays to Fridays. We trust that this intervention will go a long way in swiftly decongesting our busy roads and alleviate the transportation stress experienced by students.

We would also like to convey a note of appreciation to the Kwara State Government for this intervention and we trust that it will be sustained overtime.

APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD 2022/2023

This is to announce that the applications for the Federal Government Scholarship Award 2022/2023 is now opened.

THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NIGERIAN AWARD SCHOLARSHIP IS AS FOLLOWS:

1. Applicants for Postgraduate studies should possess a minimum of first degree with Second Class Honours Upper Division. Applicant must be registered Full-Time students of Federal or State Universities.

2. All other applicants (UG, HND & NCE) must be registered full-time students in their second year or above in Federal or State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. All undergraduate Scholarship applicants (Physically challenged inclusive) must have at least 4.0 Cumulative Grade Points Aggregate (CGPA) on a five (5) point scale or its equivalents or 5.0 on a 7 point scale.

3. All NCE and HND applicants must have a CGPA of 3.5 and above on a scale of 4.0.

B. Medicine and Para-medicals

UPDATE: PAYMENT OF SCHOOL CHARGES, COURSE REGISTRATION AND ADD AND DROP APPLICATION

Kindly note that the payment portal for normal course registration will finally close on Friday 10th of February, 2023 by 11:59pm. All payments and registrations should be completed before this deadline as there will no longer be further extension for normal registration.

After expiration of the deadline, late registration will commence immediately and it will be active up until Friday, 17th of February, 2023 after which the application for 'Add and Drop/extra credit' form will be released from 18th to 24th of February, 2023.

In further developments, please be informed that in order to further ease transportation challenges and the need for students to participate in lectures irrespective of distance, the method of lecture delivery will be made fully virtual from February 22nd, 2023. We believe this step will be pivotal in decongesting the road while administering quality education and effective learning.

UPDATE: TRANSPORTATION FARE AT COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, OKE-OYI

After consistent and concerted efforts of the leadership of the Union on resolving the transportation crisis at the College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi where we had an extensive discussion with the tricycle operators, the following transportation fares were agreed on and students are advised to adhere to it strictly:

1.Transport fare from Old college to PS - #180

2. Transport fare from New clCollege to PS - #130
(Clause: 250 for 2 students going together)

3. Transport fare from New College to Old College: #80
(Clause: 150 for 2 students going together).

As we have earlier explained, the above listed fares are temporary and subject to change pending when the price of fuel pump becomes regulated.

We would like to appreciate all important Union stakeholders (All departmental representatives & senators) who took part in the deliberative and negotiation process.

As a responsive Union, enthusiastic about the welfare of her members, please be rest assured that we are working round the clock to ease the stress of students and also, making conscious efforts towards maximizing the transportation apparatus on campus.

POWER AND WATER SUPPLY ON CAMPUS

The power and water supply problem which has been prevalent for the last few days in hostels is no doubt an ugly situation which we all share in. It is no doubt an extension of the deplorable state of the country.

As a responsible administration, we are not oblivious of the inconveniences this hideous situation has posed on Unilorites and as such, it is necessary to completely eliminate this problem and restore normalcy.

It is with this conviction that we alongside the Student Affairs Unit visited every halls in every hostels few days back to explain the situation to the hostelites, appease and calm them down while also promising them of a speedy resolution to these issues.

In a further show of our commitment, we made sure power was restored and in the early hours of yesterday, alongside the Student Affairs Unit made alternative provisions to supply water for use in hostels via water tankers pending when water will be pumped efficiently for consumption.

In addition, we visited the water plants to assess the state of things and also ensure the immediate purification and distribution of water across all hostels on campus. Also, we made sure power was restored and the state of incessant power failure becomes a thing of the past.

We hereby express our gratitude to University Management for the efforts put in place in mitigating the situation and also Unilorites for their patience and perseverance in this period.

Our administration remain fully committed to ensure consistent supply of both power, water and other basic amenities on campus.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ON TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK AT SCHOOL GATE

The traffic gridlock currently experienced at Oke-Odo road leading to the school gate is as a result of the closure of one side of the school gate, an effect of the reconstruction exercise being effected at the school gate.

The reconstruction exercise is an important step in ensuring the safe mobility of both staffs and students while also giving the school gate a new look and as such, we crave for your support and patience while it is being done.

We understand the discomfort which might be experienced during this period but it is important to note that this reconstruction will prove to be very pivotal when completed.

VICE CHANCELLOR ASSESSMENT VISIT TO COHS, OKE-OYI

The Leadership of the Union would like to use this medium to thank The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole S.A.N and his entourage for paying an assessment visit to the College of Health Sciences.

The visit which was well graced by The Provost, Sub-Dean COHS, Lecturers and Student Union Officials has no doubt proven to be a further show of the commitment of the school management to the welfarism of students on campus.

During the visit, issues regarding the welfarism of Collegiates were raised and deliberated. These issues includes but not limited to light linkage, generator repair, water supply/manual borehole, need for more lecture rooms/hostels.

We would also like to thank The Vice-Chancellor who in his remarks assured everyone of a swift resolution to these issues and also that work is already ongoing to resolve them and put things in place.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON CASH WITHDRAWAL ON CAMPUS

Modern Unilorites,

We are not oblivious of the ongoing scarcity of cash on campus and and the University environment. It's a popular knowledge that is a national endemic caused as a result of the cash policy implemented by the Federal Government.

Nevertheless, we have reliably confirmed that the ATMs at JAIZ Bank along the Walkway axis is currently dispensing cash. Students are however enjoined to make use of this opportunity. Gradually, there will be an all round flow of cash on campus.

Students are urged to conduct themselves in an orderly, civil and respectful manner while withdrawing cash. As a cautionary measure, we have deployed paramilitary bodies to monitor the process and ensure that no unnecessary scene or disruption is caused.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: GSE 301 AND ADDITIONAL UNITS

It was brought to our notice that some students were unable to select GSE 301 skills on their portal due to having an 'F' in GSE 201. As a responsive Union, we swung into action by meeting with the appropriate quarters in order to get it resolved.

Concerned students who are experiencing this issue are to now approach their LA to archive GSE202 on their portal so they can register for GSE 301.

In a similar development, students who are interested in registering for additional credits are to write the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), through the Dean of the Faculty, through the Head of Department and through the Level Adviser.

Interested students are implored to process their application letter as soon as possible.

RE: UPDATE ON INSTABILITY OF POWER SUPPLY AND SCARCITY OF WATER AT OLD COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, OKE-OYI

Sequel to the necessary steps we've taken in alleviating the issue of power and water scarcity at the College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi, we alongside the COHS Representatives(Senators and Hall Reps) in conjunction with the Student Affairs Unit have been able to secure a temporary generator and also source for fuel in order to power it so that water can be pumped and students can charge their necessary devices and gadgets.

Esteemed Collegiates, we appreciate your support and patience at this crucial time and we do not take it for granted. We understand that power and water supply has to be kept running at all times as they are the necessary precursors for an environment conducive for learning.
