INACCESSIBILITY OF THE UNIVERSITY PORTAL

The University portal is currently inaccessible due to some technical issues and this has prevented students from accessing 'add and drop' form.

Currently, staffs of the COMSIT are already working to solve the menace. Be rest assured that the 'add and drop' application will be back once the technical glitches are rectified.

This is to invite all registered Student associations, clubs and societies for an interactive session with the Executives of the Students' Union. The meeting is schedule to hold as scheduled below:

APPLICATION FOR 'ADD AND DROP'

This is to inform the entire student populace that payment for 'add and drop' application is now activated on the University portal.

Concerned students are to make payment of N1,150 on the portal to add or drop any course of their choice.

Also, students can request for a maximum of additional 2 credit units with the application.

This application will close on Wednesday 22nd September, 2021.

UPDATE ON GSE 202 & 301

Students who failed GSE 202 can now register for GSE 301 provided that such students did not score less than 30% in the GSE 202.

Affected students are charged to make use of the 'add and drop' to effect this change.

UPDATE ON INSTABILITY OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

For the past few days, our campus has experienced instability of electricity which has sprouted controversies and complaints from concerned students.

As a responsive Union, we understand the adverse effects of this situation on students and we are using this medium to assure you that we are on top of the matter.

The anomalous situation is due to some major faults on the distribution lines and technicians of the works department have been working round the clock to resolve the issue completely.

Be rest assured that the welfare of our colleagues remains our topmost priority.

CLARIFICATIONS ON REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL CREDIT UNITS

As previously announced, the application of additional credit units by means of writing letter is majorly meant for final year students who are on the verge of spilling over and would need more than 2 credit units to survive.

As it is widely known, 'add and drop' form always come with an avenue to request for maximum of 2 additional credit units. Final year students that needs more than 2 additional credit units have the opportunity to write a letter to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics for a special request which is going to be approved on reasonable ground(s).

Students who are in need of just 1 or 2 credit units are advised to ignore the information and patiently wait for the online application for 'add and drop' as they can request for additional credit unit(s) on the portal.

Online application for 'add and drop' and request for additional credit unit is expected to commence after the closure of late registration.

UPDATE ON LATE COURSE REGISTRATION FOR BOTH FRESH AND RETURNING STUDENTS

Due to conscious and unrelenting efforts of Union executives, the school management has opened the late registration portal for fresh students for a period of 48 hours.

Also, the late registration charges has been dropped to N5000 from the initial N7500 for both fresh and returning students.

Registration for both fresh and returning students is expected to finally close on Wednesday 8th September, 2021.

All students are charged to make quick use of this opportunity to pay their University charges as there will no longer be further extension.

FUNCTIONS OF THE UISAPC COMMISSION

In fact, adulteration and corruption has been the evil prevailing the society which is not only affecting the economy but deteriorating the societal moral values.

In other to combat corrupt practices in the institution, the UISAPC commission has the power to accept report, summon and investigate petitions where reasonable grounds exist for suspecting that any person has conspired to commit or committed an offence as provided for under section 8, UISAPC Act of the Students' Union Constitution:

A. Fraudulent acquisition of property by any person or any officeholders;
B. Making false or misleading statements (by any person) to the commission;
C. Forgery of signature for grant;
D. Bribery of officeholders (or by office holders) to prevent granting of contract or make advantage in favor of any person;
E. Belonging to any unregistered association in school;
F. Engaging in criminal conspiracy;
G. Using office or position for gratification(fruition);
H. Deliberate frustration of investigation.

Perceive any of the aforementioned above, do not feel disinclined to report to the commission.

EXTENSION OF COURSE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT OF UNIVERSITY CHARGES DEADLINE

As a responsible administration, we continued our consultation with the University management in a bid to represent the interest of our colleagues as regards the extension of registration deadline, and again, we are pleased to inform you that the deadline for course registration and payment of School charges have been extended till 1st of September, 2021.

We hereby charge all students to ensure the completion of their registration process before this deadline after which late registration will fully commence.

COMMENCEMENT OF 2020/2021 CLINIC REGISTRATION FOR FRESH AND RETURNING STUDENTS (200 LEVEL ONLY)

As directed by the Director of the University Health Services, clinic registration for new and returning (200 level) students commenced on Monday 16th August, 2021. Students are advised to make use of this opportunity to get themselves registered.

Duration: 3 calendar months
Time: Monday-Friday (8am-1pm)

Be duly informed that you are to bring along evidence of payment (of University charges) and a passport photograph.

You are all enjoined to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 safety precautions when coming for the registration.

SENATE COUNCIL LAW REVIEW AND AMENDMENT COMMITTEE

CALL FOR SUBMISSION AND RECOMMENDATION OF BILLS

Esteemed Unilorites,

Pursuant to Article 13(1) and (13) of the Student Union Constitution and in accordance with RULE 17 of the Standing Orders of the Senate Council, we hereby call for the submission of bills and recommendations from members of the union for the ongoing Constitutional Review and Amendment which began on Saturday, 8th August, 2021.

Members of the union are expected to send bills and recommendations to aid the general review and amendments of the Students’ Union Constitution. These bills and recommendations shall be looked into and would be included in the Compendium of Student Union Constitution if it meets the requirements of the law.
