GNS 312 TEST TO HOLD NEXT WEEK FRIDAY
The Student Union is pleased to keep all concerned students abreast of the new development trailing the GNS 312 Continuous Assessment, in contrary to the initial report circulated few days ago.
It would be recalled that a memo was released from the Student Union few days ago that both the Continuous Assessment of GNS 212 and GNS 312 would be taken on the exam day of the respective papers, due to some technical and logistics issues.
According to the Director of GNS of the University, every registered student for only GNS 312 who are on campus are expected to be prepared and make themselves available for the test which has now been rescheduled to Friday 14th of June, 2019.
However, concerned students who are on Industrial Training and some other programs would be required to sit for the test immediately after their resumption on campus, while schedule for the test would be communicated soon.
We implore all the registered students to take note of the new development, while beseeching all and sundry to keep their friends, brothers and sisters abreast of the new dates set for the exercise.
Please, note that this new development does not affect GNS212 test, as the arrangement for the exercise remains as it stands.

SECURITY CONSCIOUSNESS: OUR COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY
As we all know it's rainy season. The cloud wails more often, and the drops instead germinate the dying leaves around and make everywhere bushy afterwards. As a result, the usual pathways to our various destinations are blocked and seemed scarily to ply again.
The repercussion of this is that, in a period like this, dangerous reptiles take the advantage of the climatic condition to harm innocent people. On campus, some days back we sadly got the news of a student bitten by snake at night.
We wish to implore us to be security conscious as we move to and fro on campus at any point in time. Especially at night, it is advisable that we always move with our torch light. We need to be more careful with where we go and where the route we ply to our destinations.
While works are underway to clear the grown bushes in and around the premises, we beseech our members to heed to this candid advise and be more vigilant with our steps anywhere, anytime because prevention is better than cure.

2019 SU GAMES KICK OFF ON MONDAY
The Student Union is pleased to notify distinguished sportsmen and women in the University that the time to pick up their sporting tools and display their natural skills, technical and tactical abilities on the field of play is around the corner, as the long awaiting SU Games is set to kick off on Monday 3rd of June, 2018 by 11am.
In a bid to ensure that every single athlete in the University is considerably giving a sense of belonging and play a critical part in this year's sporting festival, logistics are in rightful places to introduce new games such as Chess, Scrabbles, Badminton etc, to join the conventional games like football, Table and Lawn Tennis, Athletics as well as Basketball.
All Faculties are expected to take part in virtually all the available sports, except on occasions when players are not provided for a particular game by the participating team(s), as they would be locking horns to win Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in different encounters promised to be more transparent, lively, interesting and enthusiastic.
We implore all Unilorites to always make themselves available for all these games as scheduled, as shows of solidarity for Faculty which they belong to, and at all times be filled with the spirits of sportsmanship, maintain absolute orderliness and peaceful coexistence before, during and even after each encounter.
Remember it is more than just the games. It requires deep passions, strengths and profound emotions.

ON HARASSMENT OF FEMALE STUDENTS
We have had several unofficial reports of female students being harassed by lecturers either directly or by conditional demands attached to academic work.
This development is highly regrettable and as a Union of competent and vibrant minds, we condemn in strong terms, such act.
We have interacted with the Vice Chancellor and we have his mandate to report anybody who harasses any of our members. It is however a fact that without adequate reports, we cannot take proper action.
We there use this medium to call on all students to report cases directly to any Student Union official for action.
We guarantee that the interest of those who give reports shall be duly protected and nobody will punish them for such reports.
We wish to state that we are fully ready and ever prepared to defend the interest of our members and we shall take every legal step in ensuring the University brings those culpable to book.
We kick against harassment in all forms of it because an injury to one is an injury to all.
Be alert!!

ON INCONSISTENCIES IN WATER SUPPLY
It is no longer news that the recent inconsistencies in water supply has caused a great deal of inconvenience for our members, particularly those who reside on campus and this has given us so much concern.
The leadership of the Union has from the inception of the problem been in constant communication with the University management on the situation.
It is worthy of note that, in the last 2 days, the inconvenience has subsided. This is due to the ongoing work on water supply channels in the University.
In order to give adequate report to students, we at the beginning of this week, upon the invitation of Student Affairs Unit, embarked on a tour of the facilities to check on the progress made so far on the installation and fixings at water treatment plant.
Those who attended our Press Conference in November will recall that we informed students that the University at the beginning of this session, started a project aimed to double the supply of water on campus through installation of new pumps and construction of a new water treatment plant. This was highly necessary due to the old age of most of the facilities that were in use. The said project is in progress and is almost done.
The University relies on two sources of water supply, that is, the independent supply from the University dam and supply from the State Government Water Corporation which serves as an alternative whenever there are issues with the independent supply such as in the case of ongoing process of maintaining and improving the supply), but this alternate supply has not been forthcoming due to the industrial action by the staff of the Kwara State Water Corporation.
The Student Affairs Unit is prepared to continue to supply hostels via water tankers and also encourage the Hostel Managers to do same in times of need while we hope for a timely completion of the maintenance process which is highly intended for our comfort and best interest.
We commend members of the Union for the patience demonstrated so far and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring the welfare of our members and, will not trade it for anything.
Thank you

EASTER: SU FELICITATES WITH CHRISTIAN FAITHFULS, CONFIRMS HOLIDAY ON MONDAY
Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his crucifixion. It is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for all sins, and risen on the third day.
Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily hope that we have victory over sin and problems befalling our dear nation.
In the light of the above, the Student Union wishes to join Christian faithfuls across the world in gratitude for Christβs sacrifice and the joyful renewal it brings to all Godβs children this Easter season.
We pray that this Easter inspire us to new hope, happiness, prosperity, and abundance, all received through Godβs divine grace. May all our prayers be fulfilled.
It is on this basis we wish to keep everyone abreast that the holiday continues till Monday. Students are expected to sit back, relax and enjoy the thrills and frills of Easter, while resumption is pegged for Tuesday 23rd of April.
Have a pleasant Easter.
