UPDATE ON WATER SCARCITY ON CAMPUS
The Student Union writes to Inform the entire student populace as regards the advancements made on the issue of water scarcity on campus which was unfortunately caused by a fault developed by the dam water pumps, causing a disruption in water supply from the dam.
Since the uproar about the shortage began, we have been communicating with the university management for a quick solution.
Early hours of today we engage the Director of Works about situations. He informed us that all hands will be on deck in resolving the problem.
While efforts are being targeted at repairing the machine, the Student Affairs unit has ensured that mobile waters suppliers are made available to supply water to the hostels.
We therefore employ our students to utilise the opportunity pending when a permanent solution is made available to the water scarcity on campus.
We thank you for the patience and endurance so far and we encourage you all to remain calm as we work to solve the problem in the best possible time and ways.

RENOVATION ONGOING ON STUDENT UNION KEROSENE DEPOT AND SALES TO BEGIN IN EARNEST:
Student Union kerosene depot had come in handy over the few years in the sales of kerosene to unilorites, especially hostelites, as it had saved transportation cost due to its nearness to students and also kerosene were being sold at cheap prices.
Therefore it must be cringe-worthy to have noticed that this time-saving depot has not been put to use in recent time. While some may allude that the project has been abandoned, others will want to believe it was a mere camouflage.
All this while, the current administration had plans far from these perspectives. And it is good news to let you know that the plan has come to fruition as works have begun on the renovation of the depot and eventually the sale of kerosene to students.
We the administration are adherent to the continuity of administrative projects and so we assure the whole unilorites that immediately renovation is completed with the kerosene depot, the sale of kerosene will begin in earnest.

SU TO DISBURSE 1.225MILLION TO STUDENTS WITH LIFE-THREATENING HEALTH CONDITIONS
The leadership of the Student Union, (SU) after consultations with the Student Affairs Unit (SAU) and Unilorin health professionals, has concluded the processes of approval to disburse a total sum of One Million, Two Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand Naira (1,255,000) to 4 students with life-threatening health conditions.
Prominent of these students is a student in the Faculty of Education who recently got involved in an accident leading her to sustain injuries that involve undergoing surgical operations to correct.
A sum of N500,000 is being earmarked for the concerned student after consulting with her family on how much have been raised and what is left to be complete.
Other funds approved include a sum of N500,000 to a student of Faculty of Life Sciences, a sum of N120,000 to a student of Faculty of Law and finally a sum of N135,000 to a student of Faculty of Agriculture. Disbursements commence this coming week.
We believe that the welfare of our members remains paramount in the recipe that makes the recipe of a great Union, and health is an indispensable factor of welfarism.
However, we must commend the Senate Council of the Student Union under the leadership of DT. Sen. Akano Jesunifemi for seeing to the prompt approval of the disbursement of funds, noting the emergency of the situation.
Our administration remains committed to ensuring that members of the Union get help when it is genuinely needed and we shall continue to do the right things.

GOOGLE ASSESSMENT FORM NOW AVAILABLE
Of course, there's perfect time for everything. But now is the time we feel most suitable to celebrate the distinguished students of the Better By Far University, on the peaceful conducts and strict compliance with all rules of the Harmattan Semester Examinations.
Few months ago, these outstanding students sincerely placed their doubtless confidence in us by giving us the mandate to pilot the affairs of the Students' Union for the 2018/2019 session, and with your tireless cooperation and unflinching supports towards our programs and policies, we're coasting home to the climax.
As we move an inch to the end of our days in office, we have considered it a necessity to allow the students perform a critical assessment on our performances thus far.
In the light of the above, we have designed a Google form which would be available for all students to fill (without any parochial consideration) to click on the link the link below and give sincere and accurate assessments on the Union as a whole and performance of each office.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15MFaHhNKGfcV4TzT206vr3FlRs_3vs2IZOUMDGBo4yE/edit?chromeless=1
We believed that in facilitating this, your truthful and diplomatic responses shall go a long way in improving the administrative composure and progress of the Union, especially in the second half of our administration.
N:B Google assessment form will be accessible from 30th march 10:00am and will closed on April 1st 11.59pm

ENTREPRENEURSHIP SHIRT SALES NOT OUR INITIATIVE.
In response to a BC advertising the sales of customised shirts for the Students' Empowerment Scheme/Entrepreneurship Summit, the Student Union wishes to dissociate self from what we regard as illegal and exploitative, thereby imploring students to eschew from it.
It would be recalled that the Student Union is planning to hold an Entrepreneurship Summit at the School, where there will be Empowerment schemes for students towards making them self-reliant with opportunities to be grounded in entrepreneurship.
However, we urge our teeming members to disregard any information concerning sales of shirts, caps and other related materials for the exhibition, as we cannot confidently authenticate the credibility of the said reports.

PAYMENT FOR SCHOOL I.D CARD SHOULD STOP
After receiving several complaints and complications on the payments of ID card, the leaders of the Student Union resultantly made deft and unrestrained moves towards finding a lasting solution to the lingering confusions.
Following a number of understandable clarifications and due consultations with appropriate authorities, we therefore implore concerned students to as a matter of urgency put a STOP to the payment of ID cards, until they receive official information from the Student Union on the matter.
We strongly believe that charges, dues, fees etcetera of this kind, have been indirectly included in the school fees charges in which every student had unavoidably made in the course of their registrations earlier, thus we are confidently saying that NOBODY SHOULD PAY AGAIN and disregard any information from any quarters requesting or threatening them to make such payment.
We are currently in talks with the management of the University for proper clarifications in which UCJ and other media outlets on campus shall be fully carried along in the process.
We wish to reiterate our undying commitments and determination towards safeguarding the interests as well as protecting the students from exploitative policies and activities remain unshakable.
Aluta continua!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Ascerta!!!!!!!!!

VC UPHOLDS PROMISES: PAYMENT OF SCHOLARS BEGINS
We wish to announce that the University has upheld the promise of the VC by beginning payment of University scholars for the 2017/18 session.
Recall that at a recent edition of the SU "STEWARDSHIP" radio programme, we said that the VC in a meeting promised that he would not owe any of the scholars their payment this session and that arrangements are being made to pay.
This development is one that we are happy about as it is the first time in the past 3 sessions that scholars are being paid within the immediate academic session.
We commend the University management under the leadership of our amiable Vice Chancellor, Prof. S.A Abdulkareem for the timely payment and reassurance that he keeps to promises.
We remain committed to the course of promoting the interests of students. Thank you.

COHS: UPDATE ON CURRENT HAPPENINGS
Alongside other student leaders from various associations in the College of Health Sciences (BAMSSA, ILUMSA, NUNSA, ASSON and SPAN), SU officials held a meeting with the College management today over a number of arising issues, particularly on plans of welcoming private developers to build new private hostels at the new college against the next academic session and also the current issues of power and water supply that have affected students so much.
After the management was informed about the problem, immediate calls were made to necessary quarters and the works department confirmed that there was a fault with the direct power supply, which has now been rectified. Also, the fault with the generator is with the alternator and funds have been approved and released by the College to purchase a new one. All hands are on deck to ensure the fixing and ultimate resolution of the problem as soon as possible. The hostel manager was also contacted about the lack of power supply and efforts were made to use another generator to pump water.
We apologise deeply for the inconveniences so far and the communication gap from our angle and we promise to make amends to forestall further occurrences of such.
Thank you.

WATER SCARCITY ON CAMPUS
Unilorites, we salute! We salute your perseverance in the last 24hours of water scarcity on the university campus.
This was unfortunately caused by a fault in the machine that pumps water to the campus from the dam.
Since the shortage started, we have been communicating with the University management for quick solution. Much could not be done today due to the restriction in movement that prevented officials from the works department to come to the campus.
We have engaged the director of works and he informed us that this morning, all hands will be on deck in resolving the problems.
While efforts are being targeted at repairing the machine, alternatives are also being sought to restore water supply to campus, especially halls of residence.
We assure you that we're working assiduously and laboriously to combat this issue as we understand the challenges that scarcity of water poses to us as students, especially in this period of examinations.
If alternatives do not work, we assure you that the Student Affairs Unit will ensure that hostel managers step in to offer internal solutions for various hostels.
We thank you for the patience so far and we encourage you all to remain calm as we work to solve the problem in the best possible time.
