RE: COHS: SUSPENSION OF HOSTEL PAYMENTS
We want to openly state that the Student Affairs Unit has reiterated its commitment to the wellbeing of all students and, consequently dissociated itself from the knowledge of arbitrary hike hostel prices at the the COHS .
While interacting with the leadership of Student Union on the matter, the Dean of Students, Professor L. T. Ajibade declared that the Unit was not in the knowing of such decision, and therefore, is not part of the recent development at the COHS.
He mentioned that the Student Affairs Unit is a core part of the school management saddled with the responsibility of general care of the students of the better by far University, and the unit could not have supported a decision that can infringe on the responsibility of the Unit.
The Dean assured us that the SAU is looking keenly into the issue and shall communicate with the union and her members as soon as possible on positive note.
We hereby stand on our ground that all hostel payments (both school and private hostels) at the College of health sciences be suspended till further notice.
We also use this medium to appeal to the general public to disregard the information making rounds on social media that the University of Ilorin Student Union is not in good term with the management of the school. This is in respect to news emanating from some unscrupulous news agencies lacking in the true ethics of journalism and only basing their reports on hearsays and unfounded yet unresearched reports.
It is normal to have debate on some issues pertaining to the welfare of the students who gave us their mandate to represent them, but that does not in any way mean that the union is at 'loggerheads' with the school management.
The enviable stable academic atmosphere our school is enjoying is as a result of tackling early disagreements such as this.
We implore these fame-seeking media outlets to go tinker their trade somewhere else, if they cannot desist from for-profits journalism.

COHS: SUSPENSION OF HOSTEL PAYMENTS
We are aware of the recent development concerning prices of hostels, which we considered too exorbitant for our students, and there has not been any acceptable justification for arriving at the prices. It is on this note that we are asking all students of the College of Health Sciences to SUSPEND ALL PAYMENT FOR HOSTEL!
We want to reiterate our commitment to advancing the welfare of our students, and standing our ground in times of unnecessary hostel fee increment is a core part of our plans. We want to assure these students that we are not in any way satisfied with the decision and we have sprung to action and we call for the suspension of all payments until they hear from us again.
Moreover, those who have paid should be rest assured that there money is in safe hands, and any eventual change in the prices would be effected on their payments too.
We implore our students to be peaceful and calm as we are already championing the struggle to attain justice.

FELICITATION AND SOLACE
We felicitate with all the fresh graduates of the Better By Far University as the long-awaited graduating list was finally released completely.
We want to congratulate everyone who made the list for passionately striving to move to an higher level in their academic lives, for overcoming all the lectures, assignments, tests, and examinations. We pray the almighty God doesn't make this the end of success in your lives.
It is also in our prayers that as you have reached a great milestone in your life, may God make it a stepping stone to greatness.
We also wish to offer calming words to those students who couldn't make the list. Remember, everything in life happens for a reason, and there is purpose for everything. We are certain the reason for this delay is because there is a greater purpose for you.
Delay is not denial, and true strength is the ability to keep trying until you achieve your goal. You are indeed better by far.
In conclusion, we implore those students affected by the illegal spreadsheet activities on their portal to remain calm and understanding as we are not resting on the issue. We are making strong consolidations on our initial appeals, and we promise to bring information as soon as we receive them. We are giving our words for it.

ELECTRICITY SITUATION AT COHS
It is only proper that the leadership of the Student Union apologize to our students in the College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi, for the non-availability of electricity on their campus. We want to assure you that we have received your complaints and we feel your pain. We are already looking into ways of improvising, but we were made to know that those in charge of the Generator are also affected by the ongoing NASU/SSANU strike.
To alleviate the situation, the leadership of the union is currently making efforts to provide alternative electricity at the SU Recreation Centre tomorrow, so that our better by far students can at least charge their gadgets till power is restored! The time and duration shall be communicated as soon as possible.
We know the importance of electricity to our students and their activities, and we shall not relent until the situation returns to normalcy.
We are determined together not to just invest but rebrand the value system.

POLICE DISTURBANCE
We are not unaware of the recent disturbances by men of the Police Force, especially FSARS in some areas off campus.
At some points in the course of the administration, we had interactions with the principals of the Command and this yielded fruits as the disturbances reduced drastically.
It has however in recent times become obvious that there seems to be a new invasion by these men.
We believe that this development is due to changes in the leadership structure of these men and we shall again seek redress on the matter.
This does not however mean that we support any form of illegal practices by students. Also, The Police Force can do their work but it must be within the provisions of the law, and without undue harassment and extortion of students.
Pending when we get a firm resolve, the PPRO of the Kwara Police Command has given us a nod to report any of their officers who makes attempts to extort us or challenge us unnecessarily.
What we require of you is to try to get the names of anyone of them that harasses you or any other forms of evidence and get it across to us.
We assure you that we will get them to the Command.

GSE301 RESULTS ISSUE:
We received with shock, news of GSE301 results of students changing on the portal. This is really surprising, especially coming at this time. We recall that late last year, there were several issues with the results and when it became very obvious, we made interventions and we were asked to generate information of those who had complains about the result.
After the intervention, the results of many students were corrected and upgraded. It therefore baffles us why after almost a year, the results change back to what they were.
We however wish to inform you that all hands are now on deck and we are working on getting to the root of the matter. We shall update members of the Union once there is new development.
While the consultations are going on, we wish that you all be calm.

CBT EXAM SCHEDULE
Following the incidence at the CBT centre last week Friday, we have worked cohesively with concerned University officials in keeping the organisation of exams and preventing unnecessary crisis.
To this end, the examinations on this Friday (19/07/19) have been scheduled with time and the document will be in circulation.
We implore students to kindly follow the schedule strictly. The schedule has been made with consideration of the number of people having exams and the time alloted for the courses and we believe that everything will go fine if the schedule is maintained.
Also, students should note that they are not to be around the CBT centre until the time for their respective courses. We also wish to advise members of the Union against going late for CBT exams.
The need for more organisation at the centre has made it necessary to strictly follow the schedules, hence those who come late for their examinations may not be allowed into the examination. Concerned Student should endeavour to show up at the centre at the exact time their courses are scheduled for.

LATEST ON CBT: NO DEATH RECORDED; SITUATION UNDER CONTROL
The leadership of the Students' Union is saddened with the rumors going round that some students of the University of Ilorin lost their precious lives at the CBT Centre today. While it is true that some students lost consciousness, however no death or any near-death situations were recorded.
Unilorites, we sincerely apologize for the discomfort experienced at the CBT Centres today, and we already contacted the appropriate bodies to ensure that such bad occurrence does not repeat itself. Immediately we received the reports, we contacted the necessary units and school officials, made necessary consultation and consolidations, all in a bid to ensure that our grievances are registered.
The affected students have received medical attention and majority of them have already been discharged. We hereby reassure unilorites that they still remain our utmost priority and at such, we won't relent from making their welfarism our priority.
We also beseech all students of the University of Ilorin to remain calm, debunk the deathly rumours, and be rest assured that everything is under control.
