IMPORTANT UPDATE ON OFF-CAMPUS POWER SUPPLY

Modern Unilorites,

In the bid to enquire and improve the welfarism of students residing off-campus especially with regards to power supply, the Union paid a visit to the Ilorin regional branch of IBEDC.

In our discussion, it was made known by the Technical Manager that the Tanke feeder was overloaded and as such can't accommodate the expected populace. This has led to the deload of the feeder in order to ensure the even distribution of power across all Tanke Axis.

However, in the bid to improve the power supply specifically the student-populated areas, there is the need to energize the substation injectors, an exercise which is scheduled to be concluded by the second quarter of the year (June/July). It is in this regard that we enjoin students to be patient with the power distribution company while they improve the situation of power supply in the Tanke axis.

In a similar development, there is a positive update on the situation of power supply at College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi. It was recently gathered that the era of a power source being jointly shared by Kwara State Polytechnic and College of Health Sciences would be a thing of the past as a new source is about to be connected to Kwara State Polytechnic.

This development indicates that after the implementation of the new source, the College of Health Sciences and its environs(UITH inclusive) would begin to enjoy premium power supply of over 20 hours. Students should however note that this development is set to be concluded in the next two to three weeks.

The Development-Oriented Administration remains committed to the prioritization of your welfarism. Thank you.

We can't overemphasize how uncomfortable and hygiene-threatening the poor circulation of water has been for the past few days.

MATTERS ARISING: CASH SCARCITY ON CAMPUS

Modern Unilorites,

As regards the issue of insufficient cash circulation in the University community, it is imperative that we inform you of the necessary steps taken to ameliorate the situation.

In the early hours of yesterday, the Union paid a visit to all the banks on campus to express our concerns as students and get assurance for cash availability on campus.

In our discussion with the Bank Managers, they made it known to us that the welfare and satisfaction of the students has been their priority however despite the cash scarcity being a national crisis, they'll make sure cash is dispensable to the student-populace whenever it's available. The Union was also reliably informed that owing to the Federal Government directive on circulation of both old and new naira notes in the nation, the scarcity of cash on campus will reduce drastically beginning from the coming weekend.

In further development, there is an ongoing plan to partner with the United Bank of Africa(UBA) with regards to the welfarism of students. Necessary details will be communicated in due time.

We remain committed to the prioritization of your welfarism. Thank you.
