The Union under the leadership of Comrade Omoluabi celebrates Gbeja Esther Oluwabukola, a 600-level student from the department of Veterinary Medicine and Steven Loya, a 400-level student of Education Technology on their respective achievements.
Gbeja Esther has emerged as the overall winner of NCC National Essay Competition 2021.
The 3rd edition of the annual competition which was tagged "5G Technology: Opportunities and Challenges" featured over 2,000 entries from 97 public and private tertiary institutions across the country. The prize presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at the Conference Room of the Commission's Head Office in Abuja.
Also, the Global Leadership Institute on its 5th Leadership Roundtable Summit has awarded Steven Loya, with an award of Excellence based on his meritorious work in the Education sector, even as an undergraduate.
The Award Ceremony which was held at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on the 24th of November, 2021, had celebrities, business owners, politicians, nation builders and other influential persons.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Today 25th November, 2021, the Students' Union commemorates the International Day for the elimination of violence against women.
Violence against women is a global phenomenon that exists in all countries and is a key factor to women's poor health. Gender disparities are based on and perpetuated by violence against women.
All acts of gender-based behaviours that are likely to cause women psychical, sexual, or psychological injury or suffering, or cause coercion or unjust denial of freedom, whether occurring in public or private life, are considered violence against women.
Women have been sexually harassed, denied educational opportunities, subjected to female genital mutilation, verbally tormented, tortured, raped and defiled, discriminated against, mocked, and labeled undeserving of qualifying positions.
In 2017, it was reported that 30% of women in the entire world were exposed to violence by husbands or partners in any period of their lives. The World Health Organization states that globally, 1 in 3 women experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime, mostly by an intimate partner.
Many abusers feel that violence against women is acceptable or even encouraged by society. They believe that they may act violently without being judged.
Violence against women not only destroys lives, it also jeopardizes development efforts and the establishment of strong democracies and peaceful societies.
Violence restricts women's choices, limiting their chance to get educated, earn a living, and engage in public life, resulting in poverty, which exposes them to more violence and leaves them with few options when violence happens.
The primary step towards eliminating violence against women is to speak up. SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
We want violence against women to end. Women around the world need to be heard; their voices should not be silenced nor their experiences go unnoticed.
