IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON SECURITY & SAFETY IN THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
Modern Unilorites,
In view of the recent happenings in the University community and the nation at large, it is highly imperative to make this release in order to draw our attention to safety both on and off campus.
As citizens of this nation, we understand the current tense atmosphere which is already brewing violence coupled with fuel and cash scarcity. As such, It is highly imperative that we go about our daily activities in a civil and peaceful manner while also abiding by the rules and regulations guiding us as students. The welfarism of each and every member of the University community is paramount to us and therefore, it is important that we intimate ourselves of these precautions.
In view of the 3-week break directed by the Federal Government, we urge our colleagues to conduct themselves in the Better-By-Far manner known to everyone and stay safe. Anyone caught engaging in illegal acts or activities that are inimical to the University community will be treated accordingly.
In a similar vein, students residing off-campus should be rest assured of reinforced security around Tanke axis and the readiness of the security outfits to purge out miscreants trying to unleash wrath on any students.
We remain keenly invested in the welfarism of our colleagues.

CASH SCARCITY AND TRANSPORTATION ON CAMPUS
Modern Unilorites,
The issue of cash scarcity and rejection of old notes is not without notice. It is suffice to say that this ugly situation is now the norms of the day as it affects each and every individual in the state and the nation at large. Being a national crisis, it is a popular knowledge that banks, fueling stations, supermarkets, transaction outlets and in extension transport workers on campus have adopted the trend of rejecting old notes.
Notwithstanding these unfavorable situations, as an administration committed to the welfarism of its members, we are in talks with the transport workers on campus on the temporary adoption of bank transfer as means of payment pending when the situation becomes favorable. In lieu of this, we enjoin students to
a. board buses in clusters/group so as to make the bank transfer easy before commencing the journey
b. save their transaction receipt so as to avoid misconception and issues later on.
In further developments, we're actively working on a partnership with Opay and the Unilorin Microfinance Bank on the adoption of a 'scan and pay' method of payment. We trust that when this initiative is concluded and implemented, it'll suffice in easing the stress caused by the scarcity and irregular circulation of cash.
In the long run, plans to digitize the transportation system via the use of smart cards and card readers are in the pipeline and we're confident this will complement our modern status soon as it's implemented.
Once again, we empathize with our fellow colleagues on the current state of the economy and we hope that in no due time, the standard of living becomes favorable to everyone.
