TRANSPORTATION: A NEW PARK, NEW DIRECTION

Modern Unilorites,

We write this statement to you today as a responsible Union working round the clock to ease the stress of students and also, making conscious efforts towards maximizing the transportation facilities on campus.

We're not unaware of the stress, uproar and difficulties encountered by students with regards to the transportation issue on campus and trust us when we say, we're on top of the situation.

In an over 3-hour emergency and strategic meeting with the school management that had in attendance, the Vice Chancellor, the DVC Academics, the DVC Management, the University Bursar, The Librarian, The Dean, Student Affairs Unit, The Director of Works Department, The Physical Planning Unit, The Timetable and Room Usage and The Student Union President , we have taken necessary steps(which are explained below) in alleviating the transportation challenges and also achieving a serene environment, conductive for learning.

To begin with, having figured out the direct impact our lecture timetable has on transportation, we have restructured the timetable to ensure that not all students, that is, freshers and returning students have to come to school everyday or at the same time, within the same lecture hour.

Alongside this, we'll be adopting an hybrid timetable where lectures will be conducted physically and virtually. Necessary licenses for Zoom and Google meet are under renewal already.

This restructuring is to ensure that general courses, especially science courses (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, etc) are spaced, such that not all 100Level students come to school the same day as the returning students, especially Thursday.

The Student Union also suggested decentralizing the school park and creating a temporary school park. The decentralization of the school park when implemented, will prove to be a pivotal step in making transportation easy on our campuses. This move is necessitated by the need to decongest the school park, and to ensure academic excellence amongst Unilorites.

Furthermore, the Works Department has deployed all working vehicles(Marco polo Buses, Coaster Buses and 30-seater Buses) to begin operations and start conveying students. In a similar vein, the road bumps are under review for reduction in number and in redesigning.

Additionally, the Student Affairs in conjunction with the Student Union have facilitated the introduction of more buses on campus. The influx of these buses is scheduled to take effect from tomorrow.

Modern Unilorites, your perseverance and patience at this crucial time are not being taken for granted. As a responsible administration, we are not oblivious of the inconveniences this situation has posed on our fellow colleagues. Be rest assured of our unalloyed commitment to the prioritization of your welfarism.
